This last Saturday was the fifth annual Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival. The event is part of the larger Vegas Valley Book Festival, although it is held at a different library. As it has every year since its inception, the VVCBF has grown exponentially. More exhibitors, more attendees and more freebies made for yet another successful outing. Even Aberrant Press’ presence grew quite a bit. Not only were we at our usual table with Daniel Blodgett’s Gett Comics, we also designed and printed the show banners and the printed shirts for the show staff. We got a ton of sketch requests throughout the day (Daniel did so many Deadpools, you’d think he was working for Marvel) and I sold a bunch of the Gundam Style shirts I’d made up. All in all, not bad for a free event!
Bolstered by our success at this show and September’s Las Vegas Comic Expo, we’ve decided to really step up our convention schedule next year. We plan on hitting Amazing Arizona (Jan 25-27), Wondercon (29-31), Phoenix Comic Con (May 23-26) and APE (October?). We may hit one or two others along with all the usual local shows.
For another look at this year’s VVCBF, head on over to Gramm’s blog for his write-up!
